Borgomaro and Liguria di Ponente

Between the sea and the villages: your vacation in Liguria

Discover the magic of a land where the sea meets the mountains, where ancient villages preserve centuries-old traditions, and where every alley tells a story. From our little gem, Borgomaro, to the wonders of the Riviera di Ponente.

Borgomaro, the heart of Valle del Maro

In the heart of Valle Impero, Borgomaro is a small treasure of 300 inhabitants that holds the most authentic essence of Liguria. Here, where the Maro stream meets the Trexenda to form the Impero River, our albergo diffuso welcomes you in a timeless atmosphere. The name “Maro,” of ancient Ligurian origin, already tells the story of this place: it comes from “Macra,” referring to the water that has always characterized this valley.

A village made for people, where the houses are arranged in a harmonious grid of streets planned by the Lascaris, ancient lords of these lands.

Historic bridges cross the canals (beudi) that once powered mills and olive oil presses, while noble buildings like the Ventimiglia Tower House (1481) narrate centuries of history. The spiritual heart of the village is the 17th-century church of Sant’Antonio Abate, adorned with stuccoes, paintings, and a magnificent 18th-century marble pulpit. But it is our Don Matteo, with his warm presence, who makes this church truly special.

The Green Gold of Borgomaro

Here, the undisputed ruler is Taggiasca extra virgin olive oil, a true treasure of our land that you can discover in the numerous oil mills of the area. The intertwining alleys of the historic center, the stone decorations, and the still-living local traditions complete the picture of a village that is a true “little capital of the hinterland”.

The Riviera di Ponente: A Paradise Between Sea and Mountains

From Imperia to the French border, the Riviera di Ponente is a continuous stream of emotions. A unique area where the crystal-clear sea meets medieval villages perched on the hills, where every curve of the coastal road reveals a new marvel.

Fine sandy beaches alternate with picturesque little ports, while inland, the characteristic caruggi climb up the hills, leading to stone castles that dominate the landscape. This land captivates not only with its beauty but also with its flavors, such as the Taggiasca extra virgin olive oil, renowned worldwide for its delicacy, the prestigious DOC wines like the fragrant Pigato, the elegant Rossese, and the fresh Vermentino, and the famous Ligurian cuisine—a perfect synthesis of sea and land.
